Shimla, Jan 3 (UNI) Himacahl Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said the government was considering various steps, including laser sterilisation of the monkeys on war footing to curb the wildlife menace in the hill-state.
Mr Dhumal, while presiding over a meeting of the officials here expressed concern over the increasing monkey and wildlife menace due to which farmers of the state were suffering huge crop losses.
He said that while the government was considering many steps to provide respite to farmers, it would also ensure that a humane approach is followed in dealing with the problem.
Laying stress on the rehabilitaion and trancelocation of the monkeys and other wildlife animals, he said, further efforts would also be made to expand the capacity of the existing zoos to accommodate wild animals caught so that their population in the natural habitat was controlled.
He said that the funds would me made available without constraints to the bodies involved in the execution of the plans to tackle the menace to save the farmlands.
