Airtel partners VeriSign for information security services
New Delhi, Jan 3 (UNI) To support the development of next-generation internet infrastructure in the Indian market, country's leading telecom operator Bharti Airtel today said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with VeriSign Inc to form a strategic partnership for jointly launching information security services.
The partnership will deliver VeriSign's identity protection, managed security and fraud detection services, a company statement said.
VeriSign is a leading provider of Internet infrastructure for the networked world.
Under the arrangement, Bharti Airtel will become VeriSign's Strategic Market Partner and will deploy its services in the country.
These services aim to revolutionise the way enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses, and consumers can use internet and develop new applications that leverage the convergence of mobile and Internet platforms.
Bharti Airtel will also utilise a number of VeriSign's capabilities, including VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) services to significantly improve the internal capabilities of its own infrastructure and to better serve its growing customer base, the statement added.
VeriSign expects significant growth in the Indian market over the next several years. Our strategy was to find a partner that shared our vision for next generation network services and had the capability to execute, and Bharti Airtel was our clear choice, said Verisign Senior Vice President (Corporate Strategy) Chris Parsons.
