Adampur coldest at -2.2 degrees celsius in Punjab
Jalandhar, Jan 3 (UNI) People reeled under severe cold wave in the region, as mercury continued to remain below zero mark at Adampur for the last seven days.
According to Defence spokesperson Naresh Vig, the minimum temperature at Adampur airbase, near here dropped to minus 2.2 degrees celsius, thus continued to be the coldest place in Punjab for the last few days.
The holy city of Amritsar shivered at 1.0 degree celsius whereas the minumum plunged to minus 0.8 degree at Halwara airbase, near Ludhiana.
The border town of Pathankot recorded a low of 2.6 degrees, while Bathinda was cold at 1.6 degrees celsius.
In the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the minimum temperature hovered at around 5 degrees celsius, while in adjoining Haryana, the temperature fell to 1.0 degree celsius at Ambala.
The minimum temperature plummeted to minus 10.2 degrees celsius in Srinagar as well as at Avantipura. Jammu recorded the minimum at 4.4 degrees celsius and in Udhampur it dipped to minus 1.5 degrees celsius.
For the next 24 hours, the weather office has predicted mist and haze in the morning and clear sky during day.
