Mumbai, Jan 2 (UNI) India were dealt a severe blow when their pace spearhead Zaheer Khan was ruled out of action for six weeks due to an ankle injury that kept him out of the second Test against Australia which started in Sydney today.
The chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar gave this information while hurrying into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters for a meeting, presumably with other cricket board officials.
It is likely that Vengsarkar would be holding a tele conference with other selectors to choose a replacement for Zaheer Khan.
Zaheer had picked up the injury during the practice session on the eve of the Sydney Test.
