Sena's turnaround on 'caretaker policy'
Mumbai, Jan 2 (UNI) In a complete turnaround, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today said that open spaces in the city should not be allotted on a caretaker basis to private institutions and should remain with the common man.
Speaking at a function today, Mr Thackeray said open spaces should not be alloted to private bodies or individuals as the common man will be deprived of them in the long run.
The Shiv Sena, that shares power in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation with the BJP, incidentally had proposed the care-taker policy for open spaces in the city instead of the adoption policy, and was the only party that supported the care-taker policy.
The care-taker policy was passed in the Improvement Committee last year and the adoption policy was over-looked.
