Mumbai, Jan 02 (UNI) Sales of Bajaj Auto two-wheelers and three-wheelers registered a negative growth for December 2007 as compared to the corresponding period for the previous year.
In motorcycle segment, the company registered a negative growth of six per cent shifting 176,441 bikes in December 2007 against 187,063 during December '06, stated a release.
In two-wheeler, it showed a negative growth of five per cent with sales of 177,249 units during December '07 against 187,179 for December '06.
The three-wheeler segment registered a negative growth of 20 per cent with 22,221 units sold during December '07 against 27,749 during December '06.
The exports reversed the trend with a growth 29 per cent in the segment 50,702 vehicles shifted during December '07 against 39,385 for December '06.
Sales between April to December 2007 and 2006 also showed negative growth in all the segments except exports.
Sales of motorcycles during April-December '07 registered a negative growth of 10 percent with 1,660,182 units against 1,843,654 units for April-December '06 period.
Total sales of two-wheelers registered a negative growth of 10 per cent with 1,678,491 units against 1,858,641. The three-wheelers also registered negative growth of 7 per cent with sales of 220,636 against 237,198 units.
The overall sales of two and three wheelers for April-December '07 showed a negative growth of 9 per cent with 1,899,127 units sold against 2,095,839 units in April-December '06.
Exports however, grew at 41 per cent at 460,591 against 325,728 units, added the release.
