Jalandhar, Jan 2 (UNI) A Rs 100 crore development plan has been chalked out for this city to address its traffic-related problems, Punjab Local Bodies Minister Manoranjan Kalia said here today.

Talking to media here today, Mr Kalia said that an elevated road would be constructed from Football Chowk to Kapurthala Chowk by the 'Improvement Trust' and a fly-over would be constructed from Lyallpur Khalsa College to Bus-Stand which would be further extended up to Narinder Cinema. This project would be jointly constructed by PIDB and PWD. Both the projects would cost Rs 40 crore each, he added.

Another fly-over with a cost of Rs 15 crore would come up at Brij Nagar near Sodhal Railway Crossing to ease the traffic congetion there, he said.

Mr Kalia said that the under-construction fly-over near DAV College would be completecd by September-end whereas the DO-MURIA fly-over would take more time due to some railway-line hurdle.

He also gave directions to setup traffic lights at Dr Ambedkar Chowk for proper regulation of traffic.

Plans were afoot to construct a swimming pool of international standards at Burlton Park and a cricket stadium for which the Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal has agreed in principle, said Mr Kalia.
