Bareilly, Jan 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh power department has launched a Lifeline power connections scheme for the weaker sections in the state.
Besides, a one time deposit scheme was been implemented in the rural areas, where debtors will get a rebate on surcharge interest.
Talking to reporters, UP power minister Ramveer Upadhyay here today said keeping in mind the interests of poor consumers, the state government had launched the novel Lifetime power connection scheme.
Under the plan, a killowatt power connection would be available to people at Rs 250 only, he informed.
Mr Upadhyay asserted the BSP government had kickstarted several schemes to take out the state from the present power problem. Under the schemes, 10,000 megawatt electricity would be produced in the 11th five year plan.
With cooperation of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Meja in Allahabad, 1,320 megawatt electricity would be producted, of which, UP would get 1,000 megawatt electricty.
