New Delhi, Jan 2 (UNI) The capital will soon have government to citizens (G2C) kiosks at various areas of the city to provide citizens with multiple government services, public sector and private sector services under a "single window".
A public welfare project in this regard was passed by the Standing Committee at its meeting here today.
Talking to newspersons later, Chairman of the MCD Standing Committee Vijender Gupta said 8000 sites for construction of these kiosks have been identified.
''Kiosk service systems will give the citizens under a 'single window' multiple government services, public sector and private sector services instead of people going from one department to another department for bill payment or for every time any information is required,''Mr Gupta said.
This project would also reduce the incidence of citizens walking into various government and public sector offices for getting the information or any other services, thereby saving the time.
Among the services that the kiosks would provide were giving directory information and facilities about the housing society where the kiosk was installed, enabling online payment transactions 24 x 7 as well as payment due/pending bills of utility bills/life insurance etc and enable the online reservation of Railways, DTC buses and Air tickets, Mr Gupta added.
Mr Gupta said these kiosks will be handed over to private sector having expertise in designing of kiosk machines, kiosk booths, design and development of web enabled software, installing and integrating all hardware and software at each kiosk booth.
Tenders for this project were being floated. These kiosks will be given on BOT basis against advertisement rights. It would also fetch an income of more than Rs 300 crore to MCD besides creating job opportunities for the youths, he added.
