Hawking hopes to answer ultimate questions about Universe
London, Jan 2(UNI) Famous physicist Professor Stephen Hawking will try to solve the mysteries of the origin of the Universe by employing Einstein's general theory of relativity.
''We are now working on the unification of Einstein's general theory of relativity, which governs the large-scale structure of the universe, with quantum theory, the theory of the very small, this unification should determine what happened in the Big Bang and how the universe began,'' Prof Stephen Hawking was quoted by the Herald Sun as saying.
He claims his work with Cambridge University's Centre for Theoretical Cosmology ''with luck'' will answer ''some of the ultimate questions'' about the universe and our existence.
Earlier, it was proved that the universe is not eternal and unchanging but started with a Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago.
Born on January 8, 1942 Hawking is severely disabled by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS (a type of motor neurone disease) commonly known in the United States as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
