New Delhi, Jan 2 (UNI) As many as 390 Delhi police personnel have been put on the ''Secret List'', 429 in the ''Agreed List of Doubtful Integrity'' while punishment was awarded to 2291 men involved in criminal cases last year, according to an annual review of the Force.
The review further said 961 surprise checks were conducted on the police stations last year. In 185 checks, the behaviour and response of the police personnel were not found ''up to the mark'' and action was proposed against 247 men, it added.
The review said the Vigilance Branch of the Delhi Police maintains a record of personnel of doubtful integrity to keep a close watch on their activities.
It also gives details of punishment awarded to errant police personnel and the men involved in criminal cases in 2007, but does not elaborate on the Secret List.
As many as 2291 personnel -- 195 inspectors, 444 sub-inspectors, 337 assistant sub-inspectors, 452 head constables, 849 constables 14 Class IV men -- were awarded punishment.
The review said 63 police personnel, comprising six sub-inspectors, four assistant sub-inspectors, four head constables, 46 constables and three class IV men, were dismissed or terminated from service last year.
It said 26 personnel -- six sub-inspectors, five assistant sub-inspectors, six head constables and nine constables -- were dismissed under article 311 (2) (b).
The review said the service of 248 men -- five inspectors, 30 sub-inspectors, 31 assistant sub-inspectors, 53 head constables, 127 constables and two Class IV personnel -- was forfeited.
While there was a reduction in rank of one personnel, the pay of two men -- one assistant sub-inspector and one constable -- was lowered, it further said.
The increment of 90 personnel -- one inspector, nine sub-inspectors, 13 assistant sub-inspectors, 19 head constables, 46 constables and two Class IV men -- was withheld.
The review further said 1861 personnel -- 189 inspectors, 393 sub-inspectors, 282 assistant sub-inspectors, 370 head constables, 620 constables and seven Class IV men -- were censured last year.
