Woman sent to police remand in murder, sex case in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 1 (UNI) A local court here has sent a woman, Sahiba alias Gypsy, to ten days police remand for allegedly murdering a girl after sexually exploiting her.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, passed the orders on a petition filed by Forum Against Social Evils (FASE) alleging that Sahiba killed Aaliya, a resident of Soura, after forcing her in flesh trade.
The CJM also allowed the petitioner to approach duty magistrate after expiry of the police remand.
Earlier, the prosecution sought police remand from the court to thoroughly investigate the case.
The prosecution informed the court that Sahiba and her co-accused Saif-ud-Din Wani were arrested.
The CJM said the prosecution is looking into the process of exhuming the body of Aaliya to ascertain the reason of her death.
On the directions of CJM, police have submitted the case report before the court.
Expressing satisfaction over the proceedings in the case, the counsel for prosecution claimed that Aaliya had revealed to the FASE members how Sahiba mentally and physically exploited her while keeping her in illegal confinement for 25 days.
He said the victim had in fact expressed apprehensions about her safety before she was finally murdered.
