Supplyco opens four medical wholesale depots in Kerala
Kochi, Jan 1 (UNI) The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) has opened four medical wholesale depots in the state to strenghten the medicine procurement-supply-distribution network.
According to an official release here, Supplyco opened four depots at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Kochi and Kozhikode, which would ensure direct procurement of medicines from pharmaceutical companies or their C&F agents.
The Corporation will use its 67 Maveli medical stores network to distribute these medicines at reduced prices in what seems to be a move to break the monopoly of All Kerala Chemists and Druggists Association in stocking and marketing drugs in the state.
A meeting in this connection was called by Food and Civil Supplies Minister C Divakaran recently in which representatives of various pharmaceutical companies, pharmacist associations, Drugs Controller, representatives of Health department and other stakeholders participated, the release added.
