Sonia's condition improving steadily
New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who was admitted to the Sir Ganga Ram hospital here after she developed a slight breathing problem, was responding to treatment and showing signs of steady improvement today, hospital sources said.
Ms Gandhi's condition was stable and she had normal meals and rest, according to a health bulletin issued by the hospital tonight.
Admitted to the hospital after complaining of asthma and chest pain yesterday night, Ms Gandhi was diagnosed with chest infection.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier today talked to Ms Gandhi over telephone and enquired about her health, sources said.
Congress workers and supporters offered prayers for her health at various places of worship.
Ms Gandhi is likely to be discharged tomorrow.
