Snake poison seized, 3 held
Kannur, Kerala, Jan 1 (UNI) The Forest Vigilance Department arrested three people and seized 22 gm of snake poison valued at Rs 6.5 lakh in the international market from their possession, from a lodge here today.
According to the forest officials, acting on information at the Divisional Forest Office here, a team conducted a raid and rested Deputy Directorate of Education Junior Superintendent K Narayanan (51), E Soman (49) and Mathew (63).
According to the Wildlife Act 1972, Sec II Part(II), taking poison from cobra is a punishable offence inviting maximum prison term of seven years and a fine of Rs 25,000.
On interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. They would be produced before a local court today.
