Rs 2 cr to slake Mahoba's thirst
Mahoba, Jan 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 2 crore to quench the thirst of the drought-hit Mahoba.
District Magistrate Jai Prakash Mishra today said for the smooth execution of the scheme, Rs 2 crore had been sanctioned from the Calamity Relief Fund.
Mahoba had been reeling under drought for last few years, which also intensified severe water scarcity in the region.
To provide relief to the drought victims, the Mayawati government had already directed the Jal Nigam to rebore the damaged handpumps and dried wells on priority basis.
The state government had also ordered the concerned officials to pace up the relief work in the drought-affected areas.
Besides, the concerned officials had also been directed to refill the dried ponds for providing water to animals.
