Probe into SEZ land allotments demanded
Panaji, Jan 1 (UNI) Goa's Movement Against SEZs (GMAS) today demanded a thorough probe into allotment of huge chunks of land for SEZs which the government had yesterday announced to abolish after a popular outcry.
Coordinator of the movement, Mr Mathanhy Saldanha, and BJP Opposition leader Manohar Parrikar, in separate press conferences, said the probe alone will expose the politicians and vested interests behind several crores of rupees worth land allotment scam.
They also demanded scrapping of all IT parks and food parks for which land was allotted with immediate effect.
Mr Parrikar also alleged a scam in the Goa Broadband Network (GBBN) project, the first phase of which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last week.
The project was mooted under the private-public-partnership model and hailed by the Prime Minister.
