Moderate intensity earthquake hits Shillong
Shillong, Jan 1 (UNI) An earthquake of moderate intensity hit the city early today while the citizens were still in festive mood following the New Year celebrations.
Central Seismological Observatory (CSO) officials told UNI here that the tremor, measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 1231 hours, with its epicentre about 200 km away from the CSO at Upper Shillong.
However, there was no report of loss of life or property or anyone being injured from anywhere, the officials added.
