Minimum temperature at Una plummets to minus 2.8 degrees
Shimla, Jan 1 (UNI) Intense cold wave conditions prevailed in Himachal Pradesh despite continuing dry spell in the state with the night temperature at Una dropping to the season's lowest at minus 2.8 degree Celsius.
According to the meteorological department, Una district recorded the lowest temperature of the season at minus 2.8 degrees for the second day after recording a low of minus 2.4 degrees yesterday.
The sky was slightly overcast in Una town in the morning before clouds thinned out during the second half of the day.
Even though the sky remained clear across the state, the minimum temperatures at several places in the higher altitude areas of the tribal districts were being recorded below freezing point.
Kalpa in Kinnuar district recorded a night temperature of minus 1.4 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded minimum temperatures of point six and nine degrees, respectively after recording minus 1.5 and 1.6 degrees, respectively yesterday.
The met office has predicted mainly clear sky in the state in the next 24 hrs.
