LNIPE, Annamalai enter pre-quarter finals

Vijayawada, Jan 1 (UNI) LNIPE and Annamalai universities entered the pre-quarter finals of the South-West Zone Inter-University Women Volleyball Tournament here today.

LNIPE, after winning the first two sets 25-15, 25-16 against M Sundarnar University, lost the third and fourth sets 22-25, 17-25 and won the last set 15-10 comfortably to wrap up the match.

Annamalai university lost the first set 22-25 to University of Pune. However, Annamalai won the second set 25-22 to equal the score 1-1. Annamalai lost the next set 23-25 as Pune fought well setting the score at 1-2. Annamalai played superbly since the fourth set and won the remaining sets 25-20, 15-13 to find a place in the pre-quarters.

In the other matches, Kerala University beat Andhra University 25-16, 25-15, 25-10, Amaravathi bt Bangalore 25-13, 25-18, 18-25, 25-14, Mangalore bt Gujarat 25-08, 25-09, 25-06, Mysore bt Kuvempu 25-09, 25-06, 25-13, Periyar bt Karnataka Dharwad 25-21, 25-13, 25-20 and Bharathar university bt Anna university 19-25, 26-24, 26-24, 25-20 to enter the pre-quarter finals.
