K'taka Govt announces Krishi Pandit Awards
Bangalore, Jan 1 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today announced the Krishi Pandit Awards for 2006-07 for contribution to the growth of agriculture in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, Principal Secretary Ramaswamy said the awardees were selected for adopting innovative methods in water harvesting, organic farming, technology and crop patterns during the year.
Mr Eshwarappa Hanjihal from Naganahalli in Gadag district got the honour for adopting innovative methods in water harvesting.
In organic farming, Mr C Vivek Kariayappa and Mr Basavaraj bagged the awards.
As many as 12 farmers, who had increased production level in selected crops like maize, tur dhal and sugarcane, were also given the honours.
Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur would give away the awards on January 3, Mr Ramaswamy said.
