India, China can play an imp role in world peace
New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) India and China, which constitute almost one-third of the world population, could contribute substantially to the world economy, said the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, while welcoming the ten member Chinese delegation in the Parliament House here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chatterjee said if these two countries come together, they can play an important role in world peace and developemnt and also in facilitating regional stability.
Interacting with the Chinese delegation, Mr Chatterjee observed that the two countries can cooperate meaningfully in many areas, particularly pertaining to energy, security and climate change.
Referring to the impressive economic development in both the countries, he felt there should be a scientific outlook to development to ensure sustainable growth.
The Chairman of the China-India Friendship Group of the National People's Congress and leader of the Chinese delegation Jia Zhijie emphasised the need for greater exchange and interaction between the two Parliaments and called upon the friendship groups to be proactive in strengthening the relationship between India and china and their Parliaments.
