New Delhi, Jan 1 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil condemned the early morning attack on the CRPF Group Centre at Rampur in Uttar Pradesh in which at least eight people, including seven security personel were killed, and said a detailed report had been sought from the state.
'' The Home Ministry is in touch with the Uttar Pradesh Government and CRPF authorities following the incident. A detailed report has been sought about the facts and circumstances of the incident and concerned authorities have been asked to take immediate and effective measures to identify and trace the culprits and bring them to book,'' he said in a statement here.
''I convey my sympathies to the kin of those killed in the attack and pray for speedy recovery of the injured,'' he said.
The attack, which police said was carried out by Laskhar-e-Toiba(LeT) fidayeen, also left five others injured.
Senior police officials in Lucknow confirmed that the module behind the attack was of the LeT. Of the total eight casualties seven were CRPF Jawans while one was a civilian.
State Additional Director General of Police (Crime, Land and Order) Brijlal told UNI that the area has been cordoned off and a manhunt launched.
