Govt distributes five lakh acres of land to poor: AP CM
Hyderabad, Jan 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said the government has decided to distribute 1.60 lakh acres of land to the poor on January 19, under fourth phase of land distribution in the State to make it five lakh acres.
The Government had already distributed 3.40 lakh acres of land during the last three years and decided to distribute 1.60 lakh acres on January 19, according to a release here.
Dr Reddy said yesterday, the Central government has enacted a law regarding the forest lands and the rules would be notified by January next . The lands which were under the control of Girijans would be regularised to them as per the law.
The Chief Minister said the government has taken up ' BhuBharati' programme in Nizamabad district to settle the land disputes on permanent basis in villages. The scheme would be implemented in four to five districts in next year, he added.
