GCIC plea to Governor on attacks on Christians
Bangalore, Jan 1 (UNI) Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) President Sajan K George today urged Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur to order an inquiry into the alleged increase in violence against Christians in the state.
In a letter to Mr Thakur, a copy of which was released to the press here, he alleged attacks were reported on Christians, their homes and places of worship in several parts of the state, particularly in Mangalore, Kodagu, Davanagere, Haveri, Kolar and Hassan districts with the latest one at Basavanahalli in Chikamagalur district on the New Year Day.
''In the light of disturbing incidents in Orissa around Christmas season, we appeal to you to take urgent steps to address the threat faced by Christians in the state,'' he added.
