Australia name unchanged squad for second Test

By Staff

Sydney, Jan 1 (UNI) After a convincing victory against India in the first Test, Australia announced an unchanged squad for the second Test starting tomorrow at the SCG.

''We are going in with the same team after an emphatic performance last week,'' Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting said.

Ponting expressed satisfaction with his side's showing in the Boxing Day Test,''I think everybody except for me at different times played their part last week.'' He stated that the pressure would on the Indian batsmen to live up to their reputation after the dismal showing at the MCG.

''I think the Indian batsmen have got some concerns just because of how well we bowled last game.'' Ominously for the visitors, Ponting said that the pitch at the SCG might offer some assistance to the likes of Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson.

''The wicket looks particularly good. It has a little bit of grass on it,'' he said.''It has just enough grass to be of some assistance (to the pace bowlers) early.'' SCG curator Tom Parker has however, predicted that the conditions will be good for batting on the second and third days and will be condusive for the spinners later in the match.
