losses
to
the
tune
of
Rs
300
billion
incurred
in
rioting
and
violence
that
erupted
in
Pakistan
after
the
assassination
of
former
prime
minister
Benazir
Bhutto.
A cabinet meeting was told yesterday that the country had suffered a total loss of Rs 300 billion of which banks suffered an estimated loss of Rs 100 billion, Daily Times reported. The Railways alone suffered losses worth Rs 12.38 billion. Manufacturing, revenue, exports have all suffered badly, the cabinet was told. Supply of fuel and food to all parts of the country had been hit by the trouble. Riots broke out across several cities and towns after Benazir was killed on Thursday.
