2072 houses being constructed under 'Ashiana' scheme at Panchkula

Chandigarh, Jan 1 (UNI) As many as 2072 houses are being constructed under the first phase of ''Ashiana'' scheme at Panchkula by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).

The HUDA, which has provided land free of cost for the construction of houses at Panchkula, has decided to implement the scheme at Faridabad, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Kaithal, Sirsa, Ambala and Gurgaon also.

A three-year action plan of Rs 776.70 crore for infrastructure improvement of Gurgaon is in progress.

Out of a budget provision of Rs 620 crore for the year 2007-08, Rs 420.05 crore has been spent during this financial year upto November.

The HUDA has undertaken development of new areas, maintenance of existing areas, special repair of roads, construction of community buildings and implementation of other schemes during last about 33 months.

The major projects being implemented by HUDA included construction of a hospital and extension of Athletic Pavillon in Sports Complex in Gurgaon, widening and strengthening of Gurgaon-Sohna Road from existing three lanes to eight lanes and construction of Master Storm Water Drainage Scheme at Gurgaon.

Its other projects, being implemented, are construction of Sewerage Treatment Plant at Bahadurgarh, Sports Complex at Sirsa, common effluent treatment plant and water treatment plant at Panipat.

Apart from this, construction of 13 primary schools, three senior secondary schools, two police posts, three police stations, five dispensaries, one hospital and 24 community centers is in progress.

A sports stadium of international standard is being constructed at Rohtak.

A number of projects to be undertaken by HUDA included construction of Rail Under Bridge (RUB) at railway crossing on Chandigarh-Kalka railway line in Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula and Rail over Bridge (ROB) at Rohtak on Delhi-Bhatinda railway line.

During the financial year 2007-08, there is a provision for construction of 11 primary schools, three secondary schools, 10 police posts, 10 police stations, four dispensaries and 25 community centers. Out of these construction work of some community buildings has already been started.
