TN farmers not to cultivate paddy from Jan 31

Tiruchirappali, Dec 31 (UNI) To protest against the Centre's failure in fixing Rs 1,000 as Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy, the Tamil Nadu Horticultural Crops Producers Association has decided not to cultivate paddy, pay land tax and farm loan dues from January 31.

In a statement here today, Association President Puliyur A Nagarajan said a resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting here yesterday.

He said the meeting also decided to constitute a farmers coordination committee, comprising all the farmers' association of Tamil Nadu, to fight for the rights of farmers.

The meeting also urged the Tamil Nadu government to expedite its efforts to get the legitimate share of Cauveri water from Karnataka, he added.
