Patna, Dec 31 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reiterated committment of his government for 'vigorous implementation' of welfare and development schemes for the new year and directed officials to show 'respect and dignity' while dealing with people's representatives and the common mass.
In a video conference with divisional commissioners, district magistrates and police superintendents, Mr Kumar asked them to work with full devotion and dedication for implementing the various welfare and development schemes besides ensuring the security of lives and properties of the common men.
Describing the new year as a period of 'implementation'' and ''consolidation'', he specified that long awaited rectification of BPL list would be completed soon and ration coupons would be made available to the poor on the basis of revised BPL list.
Although, the year 2006 was marred with natural calimities like floods, the achievements of the state government were not less as flood victims were provided timely reliefs besides initiating the reconstruction works of damaged buildings, roads and bridges on war footings.
''Under different schemes of the state government, thousands of buildings would be constructed and officers should ensure the availability of plots of land for the purpose''Huge funds'' for construction of a large number of buildings for schools, police stations and primary health centres had already been released, he added.
He asked the officials to show respect and dignity to people's representatives and common men while dealing with them and warned of strict action against the erring babus.
Taking serious note of spurt in crime against women, Mr Kumar asked the police to take effective measures to check the atrocities against them.
Meanwhile, Additional Director General(Headquaters) of police Anil Sinha said that for the first time in many years, the kidnapping for ranson in 2007 nose dived to below the hundred mark as 10 districts of the stated recorded zero in such cases.
