Govt releases 15 lakh tonne sugar for January
New Delhi, Dec 31 (UNI) The Government today released 41 lakh tonnes of non-levy (free sale) sugar for the quarter January-March 2008.
For the month of January, the non-levy sugar quota released is 13 lakh tonnes. In addition, a quantity of 1.98 lakh tonne has been released under levy to distribute in Public Distribution System (PDS).
Thus, the total availability of sugar for the month would be 14.98 lakh tonnes which would be sufficient to meet the internal demand for sugar, an official release here said.
