Women's cricket tournament from Jan 2

Lucknow, Dec 30 (UNI) The 16th edition of the All India Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini memorial women's cricket tournament will be held here from January 2, 2008.

The four day championship will be organised by the U P Women's cricket association (UPWCA) which was allotted by Women's Cricket Association of India.

Secretary of the UPWCA Mohd Nawab told here the championship would be played on a league-cum-knockout basis of the 35 overs a side match.

He said that the winners of all the five zones besides, hosts Uttar Pradesh would be devided in two pools. Pool'A' consists Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal, while Pool 'B' have Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.

Matches of the tournament will be played simultaniously at K D Singh Babu stadium and Sports College ground. The final will be held at Babu stadium on January 5.

Anees Ansari, commissioner agriculture production, UP will be the chief guest of the opening ceremony.
