Surrendered ULFA cadre's wife shot dead

Guwahati, Dec 30 (UNI) The wife of a surrendered ULFA (SULFA) militant, was shot dead by unknown assailants in Assam's Nalbari district today. Police sources said that the incident occurred at Khatikuchi chowk at about 1130 hours.

The SULFA cadre, Bijoy Shankar Hazarika, and his wife Anita were traveling on a motorcycle from their residence at Ghograpar towards Nalabari town when the assailants opened fire at them from behind.

While Anita succumbed to her bullet injuries on the spot, her husband was rushed to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital in a serious condition, with multiple bullet injuries, police added.

Police have launched investigations to identify the assailants.
