Moscow, Dec 30 (UNI) Russian-American cooperation is important in forging a constructive approach to the settlement of international problems, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a message of greetings to US President George W Bush.
''I highly appraise your personal commitment to strengthening mutual understanding between Russia and the United States,'' Mr Putin wrote, the Kremlin press service quoted Mr Putin as saying.
''Thinking back to our meetings in Heiligendamm, Kennebunkport and Sydney in the outgoing year, I can state with satisfaction that they confirmed yet again how important cooperation is in forging constructive approaches that meet the interests of our two countries and of the world community as a whole.'' ''I do hope that the positive vector and pace of bilateral relations we have set will continue, as our nations are entering a responsible period in their political life.'' ''The outgoing year, which marked 200 years since the establishment of Russian-American diplomatic relations, has demonstrated strategic significance of partnership between our two countries in tackling global problems and in ensuring stability of the entire system of international relations,'' Mr Putin said, according to Interfax news agency reported today.
