Dewas, MP, Dec 30 (UNI) Prohibitory orders were imposed in the town today after stone-pelting and damage to property at several places in the wake of a former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak's murder.

Sunil Joshi (50) was gunned down by unidentified persons at the local isolated Chunakhadan area late last night. Additional police personnel were stationed here and in sensitive areas of the district. Unidentified persons opened fire today on four people at Suwarkheda village and one of the victims Abdul succumbed during treatment. The others were hospitalised at Ujjain.

Police are investigating into the accused apparently fleeing in a car with a red light on top. Mr Joshi was cremated today. Collector Navneet Mohan Kothari issued the prohibitory orders this afternoon.

The administration said that the second incident seemed to have no link, prima facie, with Mr Joshi's murder. Police said that situation here was under control. This morning, two wheeler-borne youths attempted to force closure of markets. About a dozen shops and more than 20 vehicles -- four-wheelers and two-wheelers -- were damaged. Some people were slightly injured.

Mr Joshi, who hailed from this district's Bamankhedi village, was a pracharak in Dhar district. In 2003, he was one of those accused of murdering Congress leader Syar Singh Ninama in Dhar district's Manpur and was absconding.

''We have obtained important clues on the Joshi murder,'' said Superintendent of Police I P Kulshresth.
