Kolhapur, Dec 30 (UNI) Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM) today sought clarification from senior film actor Ramesh Bhatkar about his role in the alleged sexual exploitation of a 17-year-old on the pretext of getting her a role in a film.

Bhatkar, along with three others, were arrested by the Pune police on December 26 after the girl lodged a complaint against them on December 25 night.

Talking to reporters here, ABMCM president Ajay Sarpotdar said the matter was serious and the body will take necessary action against the actor after receiving clarification from Bhatkar.

If Bhatkar is innocent, the ABMCM will support him and if found guilty, his membership will be cancelled, he said and added another involved person in the case Ravi Nadiu, a film director, was not a member of the body.

Besides Bhatkar and Naidu, the police had also arrested the girl's uncle and aunt Dilip Karve and Jayshree, respectively, for being alleged accomplices in the crime.

Later, Bhatkar and others were granted an interim anticipatory bail by the Shivajinagar district court.
