Johnson not sure of Test spot

By Staff

Melbourne, Dec 30 (UNI) Despite an impresive show during the Boxing Day Test, left-arm pacer Mitchell Johnson feels his place in the Aussie Test squad is not secure.

''I think I've got to keep doing what I'm doing and just try and keep performing and getting wickets,'' said Johnson. ''Like I've said, you've Taity (Shaun Tait) there, other guys in Australian cricket, other bowlers that are doing really well at the moment so anyone can really come up there and grab your spot.'' ''I've just got to focus on what I'm doing and not think about other guys too much,' he added.

Johnson, was not selected for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy inspite of performing well in the ODI series in India earlier this year.

''It took me by surprise being dropped from the one-day squad.

I was still part of the squad during that series and it was good to be around,'' he said.

''It was disappointing at the time and there was a little bit of concern there. I just tried to focus on getting things right in the nets before the Test and making sure I was ready.

''I think Taity deserved his spot and did really well. There's a lot of bowlers out there that are at our heels.'' Australia play the next match of the four-Test series against India from January 2-6 in Sydney.
