Hyderabad, Dec 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy today said the government would set up a memorial in the name of former Minister and senior Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy, MLA, who died on Friday.
Speaking at an all party meeting organised by the state Congress party to pay tributes to the senior leader here, Dr Reddy said the government would extend all assitance to the bereaved family. The venue of the memorial would be decided after consulting other Congress leaders and family members, he said.
Recalling the departed leader's service to the party and the state in various capacities, he said Janardhan Reddy was part of the Congress family, and termed his death an irrepairable loss to the party.
Stating that the senior leader's services to Congress had strengthened the party in Hyderabad since decades, Union Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy said he would be remembered by all and his service to the poor was commendable.
Former Chief Minister and Parliamentarian N Janardhan Reddy said P Janardhan Reddy always stood for the people and fought for their rights without any political compromise.
CPI State Secretary K Narayana said the late leader was a good labour leader. CPM State Secretary B V Raghavulu said Mr Janardhan Reddy was a comrade and fought for the cause of the poor till he breathed his last.
All India Mujlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM ) Leader Asaduddin Owaisi said Janardhan Reddy served the people of Hyderabad and fought like a soldier to provide all facilities to them.
Congress MLA M Shashidhar Reddy said Mr Reddy and himself were treated as Brothers by the people of the state. He said he would strive to realise the dreams of Janardhan Reddy in the capital city.
Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee President D Nagendar urged the party high command to give Congress ticket to one of the family members of Janardhan Reddy to face elections in future.
