Hyderabad, Dec 30 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today unveiled a statue of senior journalist M Chalapati Rau at Chalapati Rao Nagar in Journalists Colony here.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Reddy said the government would distribute lands to the journalists, who were working at villages in their own mandal headquarters.
The government was preparing lists of beneficiaries and house sites would be provided to them in two months.
The programme was organised to signal the beginning of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists' (APUWJ) Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
Mr Rau, who was instrumental of the APUWJ's formation, joined National Herald in 1938 and became its editor after six years. He founded the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) in 1950.
