TEA submits memorandum to CM for early execution of MDP

Tirupur, Dec 29 (UNI) Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) today urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to take up the issue with Finance Secretary to allocate funds for executing the Marine Discharge Project (MDP).

TEA president A Sakthivel, while presenting a memorandum to Mr Karunanidhi here welcomed the state government annoncement to support the implementation of Marine Discharge project by including it in the New Industrial Policy, unveiled last month.

He said the Chief Minister should try to get 50 per cent of the project cost from the Union Government.

Explaining about the project to reporters here, Mr Sakthivel said TEA had formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)-- Textile Eco Solution Tamilnadu Limited (TEST) -- for implementing the Marine Discharge Project.

He said the Tamil Nadu Water Investment Company Limited (TWICL) has been assigned with the task of preparing the detailed project report (DPR).

As per the preliminary survey and available data, TWICL has estimated that Rs 816.20 crore would be required for constructing the pipeline project, he added.
