Qualitative norms overlooked in road construction in J'khand: BJP

Ranchi, Dec29 (UNI) Accusing the UPA-backed Madhu Koda government of road construction scam, the BJP today said the estimate of road construction had also been hiked.

Party spokesperson Biranchi Narayan here said that all the qualitative norms were overlooked by the state government in construction of roads.

Mr Narayan said out of about 600 roads connecting rural and urban areas, only those roads were being constructed which are in a better condition.

''Out of 370 rural areas roads, half of them were in a poor condition and needs repair, but nothing is being done,'' Mr Narayan said.

Referring to a road in Deoghar district, he said the Satsang road connecting Bhirkhi area of the district had been damaged within two years of construction.

The road was constructed by spending about Rs 14 crores but the state government had invited fresh tenders.

Urging Governor Syed Sibtey Razi to intervene into the matter, the BJP leader said construction work should be examined.
