Hubli, December 29(UNI) Karnataka government proposed to develop "Nriputunga" hillock as a tourist centre of the twin city of Hubli-Dharwad at a cost of Rs one crore, according to state Kannada culture and Tourism secretary I M Vittal Murthy.
After inspecting the hillock along with senior officials of Dharwad district last evening, Mr Murthy said the tourism department had decided to develop the hillock into a picnic spot and the department would be sanctioning Rs 50 Lakh for the purpose.
The rest of the amount had to be borne by Hubli-Dharwad city Municipal Corporation.
A memorandum of understanding would be signed soon for the project, he added saying it was proposed to lay walking track for the benefit of morning and evening walkers. It would also have a children park.
