Mysore kid among 15 selected for Apollo Tyres mission 2018

Mysore, Dec 29 (UNI) Dhruti T Venugopal a ten-year-old upcoming tennis player, from here is among the 15 kids, who were selected for Apollo Tyres Mission 2018, the Rs 100 crore project that aims to produce a singles grand slam champion from India.

Former Mayor Vasu told newspersons here today that Dhruthi had been selected from among the 4,500 students after final selection was held in New Delhi on December 23.

At present she is studying in sixth standard at Ideal Jawa Rotary school in the city.

The 15 kids, drawn from across the country, would be trained for the next ten years at the Foundation for Indian Sporting Academy in Bangalore, jointly promoted by Apollo Tyres and ace doubles star Mahesh Bhupathi, he said.

Reghuveer, her coach, said Dhruthi was one of the two players selected from Karnataka and the only one in her age group. The other tennis player from the state was Spoorthi Shvalingiah from Bangalore.

Dhruthi was felicitated at a function here today.
