By Staff

Chennai, Dec 29 (UNI) World no 16 and the second seed for the ATP World Tour Chennai Open 2008 Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus today said his target for the new season in 2008 was to break into the top ten.

Talking to newspersons here, he said his only aim was to get into the top ten in 2008 and win an Olympic Gold for his country besides doing well in the Davis cup.

''This year is bit disappointing for me and I hope 2008 would be better'', he said.

When asked about the preparation for the Chennai Open in which he is participating for the first time in his career, the 2006 Australian Open runner up said, ''I came here to win and I am practising well. The first two rounds would be tough.'' ''Once I get into my rythm I can win'', he said.

''I am very very fit and in good shape to win this tournament'', he added.

Baghdatis, who finished in the top 20 for the second straight year in 2007, said ''it was a big disappointment when I lost the first round in the US open.'' ''I changed my coach and I got the confidence back'', he underlined.

He said ''it was a tough year. However, I fought my way back to finish the year better and hope to continue with the same rhythm in 2008''.
