GAIL to lay 780 km pipeline from Dabhol to Mangalore

Ahmednagar, Dec 29 (UNI) GAIL India has sanctioned a Rs 1200 crore project, wherein a 780 km gas pipeline will be laid from Dabhol to Mangalore.

The project will commence from January 2009, GAIL India Chairman Dr U D Choubey told mediapersons here today.

''A 600 km gas pipeline is already being laid from Dahej in Gujarat to Dabhol at an expenditure of Rs 3,000 crore,'' Dr Choubey said.

GAIL India will soon be providing CNG for transport and industrial purposes in Pune and Nashik, he said.

''We have signed an MOU with Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers to set up a coal gasification project worth Rs 6,000 crore at Talcher in Orrisa,'' Dr Choubey informed.

''At present, we are providing Maharashtra with 10 MMS CMD of gas supply and other parts of the country with 100 MMS CMD of Gas supply through a 700 km gas pipeline, he said.

GAIL plans to lay a 6,000 km gas pipeline in the next five years for which an amount of Rs 30,000 crore has already been sanctioned, Dr Choubey added.
