New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) Delhi shivered as the mercury today dipped to the lowest in five years at 3.9 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal.
The mercury had hovered between five and six degrees C this day during the last five years.
The day temperature also dropped to 20.6 degrees, one degree below normal. It was 21.3 degree C yesterday.
Yesterday, there was a slight abatement in the chill as the mercury recorded 6.5 degrees C, which was normal.
Visibility was normal at 1500 metres.
The lowest temperature this season was recorded at 4.2 degrees C on December 19.
The Met office said a mainly clear sky is likely tomorrow with slight mist in the morning. The minimum temperature is likely to rise slightly to 4.9 degrees C.
Cold wave condition is likely to prevail over the region in the next few days.
