Hyderabad, Dec 29 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of the BJP will launch a signature campaign in Telangana region to pressurise the state government for a separate state for Telangana.
Talking to newspersons here today, BJP State president Bandaru Dattatreya and General Secretary K Laxman said the party workers would tour all the villages in the Telangana region from January three to 17, and collect signatures from the public in support of their demand for separate Telangana.
BJP national secretary Indirasena Reddy would inaugurate the programme in which state leaders and party workers would take part.
They said 3,000 party workers would leave for Delhi to submit the signatures from the public in February to President Pratibha Patil to exert pressure on the state government.
The BJP leaders alleged that the Congress government in the state and their leaders belonging to the Telangana region had failed to pressurise the Centre on the issue.
They said the separate Telangana issue would be the main agenda of the party in the next elections if the government failed to announce its decision before the elections.
