Adampur freezes at -1.6 degrees C in Punjab

Jalandhar, Dec 29 (UNI) The Adampur airbase, near here, for the second day today witnessed sub-zero temperature, thus turning out to be the coldest place in Punjab.

A defence spokesperson said Adampur recorded the season's lowest temperature at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius.

The holy city of Amritsar shivered at 1 degree Celsius, while Halwara airbase near Ludhiana recorded 3.6 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature recorded at Pathankot was 3.6 degrees, while in Bathinda it was 4 degrees Celsius.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh was cold at 5.2 degrees Celsius, while in Ambala in Haryana the minimum hovered around at 2 degrees.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature in Srinagar and Avantipura plummeted to minus 7.8 and minus 9.4 degrees Celsius respectively, while in Jammu it was low at 5.4 degrees and in Udhampur it plunged to minus 0.6 degrees.

For the next 24 hours, the weather office has predicted fog and mist in the morning and a fine to fair sky during day and haze by evening.
