Slab of building collapses in Thane, 2 dead, 15 injured

Thane, Dec 28 (UNI) At least two persons were killed and fifteen others injured when a slab of an under-construction 'Infotech Park' collapsed tonight in Wagle Estate locality of the city, police said.

The second floor slab of 'Ashar Infotech Park' came crashing down at 1945 hrs, trapping labourers engaged in work at the site.

A massive rescue and relief operation was underway at the site, with fire-brigade and police personnel engaged in extricating people trapped under the debris. Police commissioner D Shivanandan and chief fire officer Vijay Vaidya were supervising the relief operation.

The injured were rushed to the Thane civil hospital, a high official of Wagle estate police station told UNI adding that two of them were stated to be in a critical condition.
