Nashik, Dec 28 (UNI) Prayers were offered today for former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in Pakistan, at Indore village in Dindori taluka of Nasik district of Maharashtra, where her ancestors used to live during the pre-independence era.
Ms Bhutto's great grandfather lived for some time in Indore village. He had properties here, which the family donated to the people of their community and mosques, before the family shifted to Pakistan after partition.
Her grandfather Shahnawaz Bhutto, a prominent military officer of the Mumbai province during pre-independence era, had laid the foundation stone of the Nashik Municipal Council in 1934.
The news of her death sent shock-waves among people of the village. Though she never visited the village, she used to proudly mention her connection with the village. Many of the old-timers expressed grief over her death.
